Volunteer Tutor
About This Project
As part of the TUM LearnLabs, I volunteer as a tutor to introduce pupils to computer science.
School Visits
During school visits, we work with students starting from 5th grade, giving them a lively, practical, and creative introduction to computer science. The sessions are designed around hands-on experimentation rather than traditional instruction, allowing students to discover that computer science extends far beyond programming alone.
Activities include logic puzzles, exploring binary systems and algorithms, cryptography concepts, and programming with SwiftUI on iPads, where students build small apps like games and interactive tools.
Course Material Development
After school visits, we reflect on the sessions and discuss possible improvements to the course materials for different class sizes, grade levels, and varying levels of prior knowledge.
Key Highlights
- Facilitating school visits to teach programming to pupils starting from 5th grade.
- Improving course materials for different class sizes, grade levels, and prior knowledge.
